Kinect sells more than 1 million units worldwide

Microsoft has announced it has sold more than 1 million units of the Kinect gaming system worldwide in the first 10 days since launch.

The original sales forecast for the Kinect was 3 million to 5 million by the end of the year and Microsoft looks to be well on its way to achieving that mark with the all-important Christmas season under way.

Don Mattrick, president of the interactive entertainment business at Microsoft, said: “We will continue to work without retailer partners to keep pace with high demand and deliver our plan to sell more than 5 million Kinect sensors worldwide by the end of this year.”

The Kinect, which was released in Ireland last week, had a large number of units pre-sold due to high demand.
