Apple’s next tablet computer will carry new features, including a USB port, Retina display technology, video phone and 3-axis gyroscopes, and will be lighter for better mobility.

That’s according to reports emanating from China, where informed sources from the manufacturing community have let slip some of the new specs.

Taiwan news site Digitimes quotes a Chinese-language newspaper, Economy Daily News, which claims informed sources say the iPad 2 will come with a video phone (which means front and back cameras) a USB port, new Retina technology and 3-axis gyroscopes.

It suggests iPad 2 will adopt smaller size panels featuring thinner glass to make the device lighter for greater mobility.

The Retina display technology found on the iPhone 4 will be added to the iPad 2 to boost image and colour output and the 3-axis gyroscopes will bring greater performance to gaming, where Apple is betting on a strong future.
