Julian Assange should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, according to news reports coming from Russia.

The WikiLeaks founder, who is currently under arrest for alleged sex crimes, should be awarded the prestigious prize as a way of helping the Australian, Russian news agencies are reporting.

According to the Guardian, a source from inside President Dmitry Medvedev’s office made the comment calling on public and non-governmental organisations to find ways to help Assange and suggested a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Russia was labelled a nation run by mafia and Russian Premier Vladimir Putin was referred to as an “alpha dog” in the released cables that have caused controversy since their publication.
