Some of the peculiar creatures that inhabit the Irish political landscape – and their strange way of stringing words together – have been captured in a new iPhone app, aptly called Political Nonsense.
Before the world’s attention was turned on Ireland because of the banking crisis, only the Irish themselves were aware of the grammatical liberties taken by these supposedly educated, but nonetheless and in many cases – lamentably – elected individuals.
But now an app available on the Apple App Store created by Irish firm Autopilot contains 80 hilarious clips to show a more savvy, enlightened generation how these politicians use the English language in ways that were never intended.
The app, entitled Political Nonsense, contains sound bites of prominent Fine Gael, Fianna Fail, Labour and independent TDs like Jackie Healy-Rae and include the funniest quotes, grunts and phrases Irish politicians have to offer.
The app is available for 79 cents in the Apple App Store.
