Irish could sell 10 items a minute on eBay.ie today

eBay.ie has said that Sunday 30 January will see many Irish people list more unwanted items on eBay than any other day of the year to raise post-Christmas funds.

eBay.ie expects 14,308 items to be listed for sale on Sunday, equating to 10 items a minute.

Research by TNS for eBay showed that the average Irish person received at least one unwanted Christmas present valued at an average of €50.

Some 35pc of Irish people hold onto their unwanted gifts and 30pc will rewrap these items and give them as a gift to someone else. Eight per cent choose to sell them.

The top most “rehomed” gift was music, with stamps coming in second.

The third most rehomed gift was video games, with clothing, shoes and accessories in at No 4.

Consumer electronics were the eighth most rehomed gifts, with computers coming in ninth.
