Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood gets 7 Bafta nominations

The nominations for the video game Baftas have been announced, with Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood drawing the most nods.

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood is nominated for seven awards in the action, gameplay, artistic achievement and best game categories.

It will face Fifa 11, LIMBO, Heavy Rain, Mass Effect 2 and Super Mario Galaxy 2 in the nominations for best game.

Heavy Rain and Mass Effect 2 also were nominated for artistic achievement, gameplay original music and story, with Heavy Rain getting an extra nod for technical innovation.

Indie game LIMBO also got an artistic achievement nod, along with use of audio. Super Mario Galaxy 2 was also nominated for technical innovation, gameplay and original music.

Alan Wake, Battlefied: Bad Company 2, God of War III and Halo: Reach got three nominations each.

Bioshock 2, Fallout: New Vegas, FIFA 11, Kinectimals, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty received two nominations each.

A new category was introduced this year for the best social network game. Nominees include Bejeweled Blitz, Farmerama, FIFA Superstars, My Empire, Zoo Mumba and Zuma Blitz.

There will also be a publicly-voted category for the GAME Award of 2010. The shortlist was compiled by gaming journalists and enthusiasts and includes Call of Duty: Black Ops, Dance Central, FIFA 11, Halo: Reach. Heavy Rain, LIMBO, Mass Effect 2, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Red Dead Redemption and Super Mario Galaxy 2.

There is also a recognition for upcoming talent under the ones to watch category, which include the games Mush, Sculpt and Twang.

The awards will take place on 16 March and will be streamed live online at the Bafta website, where full nominations are also listed.
