The Social Network wins three Oscars

The movie depicting the alleged origins of Facebook – The Social Network – picked up three Academy Awards last night: best film editing, best original score and best adapted screenplay.

However, at the 83rd Academy Awards Ceremony in Hollywood, The King’s Speech won the gong for best picture.

The Social Network, which won best picture at the Golden Globes, had been nominated for eight Oscars.

It picked up three of the Oscars: best film editing (Angus Wall and Kirk Baxter), best original score (Trent Reznor) and best adapted screenplay (Aaron Sorkin).

It lost out to The King’s Speech, which had 12 nominations, for best director (Tim Hooper) and best actor (Colin Firth).
