Gay dating app Grindr launches Android version

8 Mar 2011

Grindr, a popular social networking app for gay men with 1.5m users in 180 countries, has launched an Android version of its successful app.

Grindr is already the world’s largest all-male mobile location-based social network. Now available in the Android Market, Grindr extends its popular service to the rapidly expanding global community of Android users.

Like previous versions of Grindr, Android uses GPS and cellular technologies to let users find and interact with nearby guys. Grindr users can view profiles and photos, and instantly chat with users across all platforms – iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, BlackBerry and now Android users.

The next logical step

”Launching Grindr for Android was the logical next step for us,” says Joel Simkhai, founder and CEO of Grindr.

“Over the last year, there has been a tremendous demand for this new release and our team has worked hard to deliver a product that Android users can get excited about.

“I’m thrilled to get Grindr for Android into the hands of our users so they can experience the optimisations we’ve made to the familiar Grindr experience on this new platform,” Simkhai said.
