Is Rebecca Black recording Friday followup or not?

31 Mar 2011

Uncertainty is surrounding whether or not Friday singer and internet sensation Rebecca Black is recording a followup to the song, titled LOL.

Various media sources have reported that the 13-year-old aspiring singer, from Anaheim Hills, California, is working on a second single, hot on the heels of the video for Friday having gone viral on YouTube.

LOL reportedly contains the lyrics, “BFF, you make me LOL,” but her manager has told HollywoodLife.com there’s no truth to any story about a new song from Black.

“Rebecca does not have a new single titled LOL,” Black’s manager said. “Just to be clear, she does not have any new single recorded at this time.”

What is true, however, is that Black’s video for Friday surpassed Justin Bieber’s video for Baby to become the most-disliked video on YouTube.

Friday has come under harsh criticism globally, with The Independent in the UK calling it “the worst song ever” and the majority of feedback on Twitter being negative towards the video and song’s simplistic lyrics.

Even singer-actress Miley Cyrus has expressed displeasure, but she took issue with Black’s sudden fame.

“It should be harder to be an artist,” Cyrus told the Daily Telegraph. “You shouldn’t just be able to put a song on YouTube and go out on tour.”

Interesting comments from Cyrus, seeing as her father is country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, who shot to stardom with the song Achy Breaky Heart in 1992.
