Amazon planning two Android ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ tablets?

17 May 2011

E-commerce giant Amazon is believed to be planning not one but two Android-based tablets before the end of the year. The move will not only cement its lead in the e-book business but will help it grow its market for apps, music and other cloud services.

According to a report on Boy Genius, Amazon is planning an ‘entry level’ tablet code-named ‘Coyote’ which will be based on the NVIDIA Tegra 2 platform.

A more powerful tablet code-named ‘Hollywood’ will be powered by the NVIDIA T30 ‘Kal-El’ quad core processor which will be 500pc faster than the Tegra 2 platform.

If the devices debut later this year it is possible they could be running Google’s next Android OS ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’.
