Dramatic redesign of Gmail on the way

21 Oct 2011

A video has leaked onto the web indicating a major new redesign for Google’s popular Gmail product that should up the ante considerably in the email business. The redesign includes new search options and HD themes.

The video is understood to have appeared briefly on Google’s pages before being taken down but has since spread virally.

A spokesman takes users through a demonstration of how Google has completely redesigned the look and feel of Gmail to make it “as clean, simple and intuitive as possible.”

The new design is colourful and uncluttered and features an automatic “any size window” capability. Users can also define the display density they want.

With the new look, Gmail users will be able to adjust the size of labels to their liking. The spokesman said the new look also allows themes to really shine, including new high-definition themes.

“Conversations are designed to feel like real conversations,” the spokesman said and in a hat-tip to Google+, profile pictures will now accompany messages.

Another new addition will be the ability to customise your search by doing such things as creating folders from the search box. Exhilarating stuff!
