BalconyTV in 40-hour dash to crowd fund site redesign

14 Nov 2011

BalconyTV, the Webby-nominated video service that has been reproduced in 24 cities around the world, has launched a 40-hour appeal to help raise €4,000 to rebuild its website.

Started by three friends in June 2006 when they decided to start filming bands on their apartment balcony in Dublin city centre, BalconyTV is known for supporting small independent artists.

The shows went viral and the concept is produced in 24 cities worldwide. Some 6,000 shows have been viewed 25,000 times.

The founders of BalconyTV are taking part in a programme called Startup Bootcamp in Copenhagen. The Dublin web phenomena was recently featured on The Next Web.

“BalconyTV is known for featuring small independent artists, giving many artists their first rock ‘n’ roll moment. We want to keep it this way,” explained co-founder Stephen O’Regan.

“We would like to raise €4,000 to help us rebuild our website before Investor Day on 24 November so we can really impress,” O’Regan said.

“We have 40 hours to hit this target. So every donation is welcome, big or small. We have also created a few perks for your donations.”
