YouTube revamps its website

2 Dec 2011

YouTube has redesigned its website, offering a new-look homepage, integration with Google+ and Facebook, and more customisable channels.

The new look is an evolution of YouTube’s experimental ‘Cosmic Panda’ design and after receiving user feedback, they’ve now simplified YouTube, offering a consistent grey background, bigger video thumbnails and a more streamlined watch page.

The YouTube homepage now lets users create their own channel lineup at the left-hand side of the page. It lets them see trending videos and gives them suggested channels to watch.

It allows users to link their Google+ and Facebook accounts to YouTube to see what friends are sharing and it has placed the homepage feed in the middle of the screen. There are also recommended videos on the right-hand side of the page.

Channels have also been revamped, with the new design focusing on helping users find new videos. There are new channel templates to meet the needs of each video producer.

Earlier this week, YouTube launched a more detailed analytics tool, giving video producers more information on what audiences were viewing their content.
