Google Android Market gets to 10bn downloads

6 Dec 2011

Google has passed 10bn downloads from its Android Market, it announced tonight in a blog post.

The internet giant said that it is achieving app downloads at a rate of one billion downloads per month.

To celebrate the milestone Google has teamed up with a number of premium app developers to offer a number of apps at only 10c each for the next 10 days, according to Eric Chu, director of Android writing in the Google blog.

“Of course, none of these apps would have existed if it weren’t for the developers who created them. Every day, these developers continue to push the limits on what’s possible and delight us in the process. For that, we thank them,” Chu said.
