9 Dec 2011

Photo-sharing app and fast growing social network Instagram, which allows users to take and share pics and even add a retro feel, has been named iPhone app of the year.

In the App Store Rewind 2011 Awards the best iPad app of the year is DJing app Djay, which allows users to take songs from their iTunes app and remix, scratch and add beats to them via a virtual turntable.

The iPhone game of the Year is Tiny Hooks, an addictive game that involves helping a bird to soar above the clouds and stay in the light.

The iPad game of the year is Contre Jour, which Apple judges describe as a hauntingly beautiful physics puzzler that masterfully skates the line between game and art.
