Microsoft Ireland has launched AppMeUp, an Irish developer initiative to encourage students, hobbyists and developers to learn how to create apps for the Windows Phone platform.
The programme is for developers from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and lets them download and learn tools required to create and publish Windows Phone apps.
Entrants who sign up online and publish four Windows Phone apps between 28 February and 22 June will become an App VIP and will receive a Nokia Lumia 800 smartphone. Each month, the person who submits the best app will also win a Lumia 800.
Submissions will be judged by representatives from Microsoft Ireland and James Whelton, co-founder of CoderDojo.
“App Me Up is awesome. It allows developers that create epic apps to be recognised and fuel others to create the same. I look forward to having my mind blown,” said Whelton.
