Next Windows 8 pre-release coming in June

24 Apr 2012

The next pre-release of Microsoft’s upcoming OS Windows 8 will arrive the first week of June and will offer ‘the most complete’ version of the OS to date, according to a Microsoft executive.

PC World reports that Steven Sinofsky, president of Windows and Windows Live Division, said this at Microsoft’s Windows Developer Days in Tokyo.

However, this may not be the last pre-release of the OS as more could follow, according to a Microsoft Japan spokesperson.

Windows 8 is expected to launch in October and will offer an ambitious redesign of Microsoft’s operating system which is targeting both PCs and tablets. It features live tile icons, touch-first browsing and full-screen apps.

Windows 8 will come in four editions. There will be a Home edition for consumers and a Pro edition with encryption, virtualisation, PC management and domain connectivity.

There will also be Enterprise for PCs with x86 processors and RT for tablets and devices with ARM processors.
