TV3 launches mobile-optimised version of 3player

7 Jun 2012

TV3 has optimised its online player to deliver an app-like service via a mobile browser.

From today, when you access the 3player on TV3.ie through a mobile device, the service will detect this and bring you to a mobile-optimised version that will be easier and quicker to use.

The dynamic new mobile version of 3player will be accessible to all smartphone users, be they on Android or iOS.

Optimising the player for the mobile screen means users can get an app-type experience from within their mobile browsers – no download required.

“As a commercial broadcaster, we want to ensure we make it as easy as possible for people to access great TV3 shows on their smartphones when they are out and about,” said TV3’s director of online, Stephen Grant. “Using the latest web technologies to deliver a native app-type experience through the web browser gives us more control over content and streaming while also maximising our rights position.”

Grant also hinted at more online developments to come from TV3: “The launch of the new mobile version of 3player kick starts a big year for TV3 Online, with more digital innovations planned.”
