Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn live-action series trailer debuts at Comic-Con (video)
Today at San Diego Comic-Con International, 343 Industries and Microsoft unveiled the trailer for Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, a live-action web series that provides a prelude to the release of Halo 4 later this year.
In just more than three minutes, the official trailer gives fans a taste of what to expect from the series, which debuts on 5 October and will run for five episodes.
The story centres on Thomas Lansky, a cadet in the United Nations Space Command military academy, training to be a soldier who will fight in the UNSC’s ongoing war with the Covenant, an alien alliance.
When the alien insurrectionists attack the academy, Lasky and his fellow cadets must fight alongside the heroic Master Chief.
And so the stage is set for the worldwide launch of Halo 4, which marks Master Chief’s return and the latest instalment in the best-selling Xbox franchise.
Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn will be broadcast on Machinima’s Machinima Prime YouTube channel and Halo Waypoint and promises insights into the story of Halo 4 and the Halo Infinity Multiplayer experience.
Machinima will also be releasing exclusive content, back story and character pieces leading up to the launch of the highly anticipated series and an extended 90-minute special edition will be available with Halo 4 Limited Edition and on video-on-demand services.
This special edition will also come with bonus content that expands on the characters and stories, plus a special featurette on turning a video game into live action and a ‘making of’ featurette.
Halo 4 will be released worldwide on 6 November and so far the series has sold more than 42m games worldwide, generating almost US$3bn in total franchise sales. As well as live-action features, the game has also inspired best-selling novels, comic books, action figures and more.
