Samsung has introduced an Angry Birds app for its range of smart TVs. Developed by Rovio, the app lets smart TV viewers play the popular pig-destroying game using gestures captured with Samsung’s motion-control technology.
More than 20m apps have already been downloaded to Samsung smart TVs worldwide, but this is the first smart TV game developed with motion control, which is powered by Samsung’s Smart Interaction technology.
The game is just like the original Angry Birds, but on a bigger screen and players use hand gestures to line-up the shot and activate the skills of each kamikaze bird.
“We’re excited to be launching the Angry Birds app as the very first game for TV to use Samsung’s motion-control TV technology. Not only is it revolutionary but will set a new standard in the industry by offering a game for smart TVs controlled by hand gestures,” said Brendan Carr, product marketing manager at Samsung Ireland. “Samsung will continue to develop various content that brings family members together in front of the TV, allowing consumers to enjoy new experiences via Samsung smart TVs.”
