24 Aug 2012

The latest figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) come with little surprise as RTÉ.ie comes out on top as Ireland’s No 1 media website with over 117m page impressions and 4.5m unique browsers in May 2012.

The popular Irish news website sees 415,808 daily unique browsers – the highest number in Irish media.

“RTÉ.ie continues to be the leading Irish media website,” said Conor Mullen, commercial director of RTÉ Digital. “We are constantly enhancing our offerings, and further building out our strategy for users at home and abroad to access RTÉ anywhere and everywhere.”

RTÉ’s mobile service is also doing well, with 54m page impressions coming from its suite of mobile apps. “Mobile traffic is a phenomenal growth area for us,” added Mullen.

Streaming from the website is also seeing constant activity, with approximately 6.5m streams requested throughout the month of May, while users are accessing content across a whole range of devices.

“We have just launched an improved RTÉ Player app, which will deliver an even better user experience,” said Mullen. “A new version of the RTÉ Player which has significant improvements in usability, design and functionality will also launch later this month.”
