A Facebook page created only four days ago to help find missing Irishwoman Jill Meagher has already attracted nearly 90,000 followers.

Meagher, from Drogheda, Co Louth, disappeared early Saturday morning in Melbourne, Australia, after leaving a bar in the suburb of Brunswick. She had been out with work colleagues. On Monday, her handbag was found in a laneway in an area police said they had previously searched, and now homicide officers have taken over the investigation.

Facebook users can help find 29-year-old Meagher through the Help us find Jill Meagher Facebook page.

The latest post from the page is footage from a shop’s CCTV camera that police released that apparently shows Meagher walking north on Sydney Road and a man wearing a blue hoodie who looks to have stopped to talk to Meagher. Police want to speak to that man and asks anyone who recognises anyone in the footage to contact them.

The Help us find Jill Meagher Facebook page also includes messages from Facebook users, expressing hope for her safe return to her loved ones, and words of support to her friends and family.
