Ever heard a drum solo played on two hard drives?

We take a look at some of the most-viewed and most-shared videos on the web. This week features the creative ways old-school technology can be used to make music, why the sky is dark at night, why TomTom employees feel like robots and what the most-watched sports interview is in the world right meow.

More than 72 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute, 500 years of video watched on Facebook every day, and more than 700 YouTube videos shared on Twitter each minute, ensuring there is always video trending on the web.

With so much video available for viewing, we take a look at some of the viral videos that have caught our eye this week.

Gotye – Somebody That I Used to Know – Old School Computer Remix 

A few weeks ago it seemed this year’s most remixed song on the internet was petering out into a two-horse race between Call Me Maybe and Gangnam Style but you simply can’t keep Gotye remixes away for very long. This week’s effort comes courtesy of YouTube users BD594, using old-school technologies, such as a HP Scanjet 3C and two hard drives to recreate one of this year’s most played songs – Someone That I Used To Know.

We’re big fans of Minute Physics and their quest to answer the big questions in life. This week sees them tackle the almost childish, but also fascinating question, “why is it dark at night?” The answer, it seems, is in the stars. Or rather, in the stars we can’t see. Confused? TomTom does the Robot: TomTom Navigation now on Android 

Ever feel like a robot at work? Going through the same tasks over and over and over again. The employees at TomTom certainly feel like droids this week, although they’re quite proud of that, though. Having just launched their navigation service on Android devices, this viral video is the perfect compliment to announce the service.

Thomas DeCoud – SportsCenter (LIVE) – ‘Meow’ Game

Have you ever played the ‘Meow’ game? (Made famous by the 2001 film Super Troopers). Atlanta Falcons safety Thomas DeCoud certainly has, however, he managed to play the game live on ESPN’s SportsCenter this week, managing a personal best 13 ‘meows’ in the interview.
