Movember: A Mo-Growing Social Media (infographic)

1 Nov 2012

If there was any doubt about the buzz (certainly not from electric razors) that Movember creates in November, look no further than social media. A new infographic takes a look at the global campaign in which participants grow moustaches to raise funds and awareness for men’s health, particularly mental health and men’s cancers, and its ripple across social media.

The infographic published by Radian6 on Visual.ly reveals Movember generates a lot of talk on social networks, with nearly 1m conversations about the event having taken place. This may not really be surprising, considering, for example, some participants use social networks to request donations and to post photos of their moustache-growing efforts.

Women, too, play a role during Movember (at the very least as supporters of Mo Bros), and the infographic reveals the number of those women who have used social media.

The graphic also lays out the top 10 usernames, and the top 10 retweeted usernames, and for those looking for Movember moustache inspiration, there’s a list of the different types of moustaches mentioned on social media.
