Video-sharing site YouTube has updated its app for Android and Google TV so it enables users to send YouTube videos from their handsets to their TVs for viewing.
“We’re making it even easier to play videos from your phone or tablet on your TV, with a YouTube app update for Android and Google TV that automatically pairs your devices on the same Wi-Fi,” wrote product manager Timbo Drayson on the YouTube blog.
To transfer a YouTube video from a smartphone to a Google TV, a user just has to find a video on the YouTube app for Android, click the TV icon that appears, and the video will play instantly on his or her Google TV.
Users can pause, scroll or skip to the next video by using their mobile devices as a video plays on the TV, as well.
“Since your devices are connected in the cloud, you can also do things like find the next video to watch from your tablet or browse around the web on your phone, all while the video plays on TV,” wrote Drayson.
“You can even connect multiple devices to the TV to have your friends add to the playlist.”
This feature will come to more devices and screens in the future, Drayson added.
