YouTube’s most-watched video of all time, Psy’s Gangnam Style, is on track to be viewed 1bn times by mid-December on the video-sharing site.

BBC reports the video for the tongue-in-cheek song about the consumerism of Gangnam, an affluent suburb of Seoul, South Korea, is expected to reach 1bn views in some two weeks’ time.

The video features what has become its signature dance moves – Psy and his dancers pretending to gallop on a horse, while alternately holding the reins and spinning a lasso.

Earlier this week, those moves helped bump Justin Bieber’s Baby out of the way as the most-watched video on YouTube. As of writing, Gangnam Style has attracted 852,214,101 views, while Baby has drawn 806,883,987 views.

Since being released on 15 July, Gangnam Style has sold more than 4m copies worldwide, The Telegraph reported, and has inspired numerous parodies.
