Cmdr Chris Hadfield has provided his Twitter followers with another International Space Station view of Ireland. This time the astronaut has snapped and tweeted a photo of the Cork coastline.

“Southern Ireland, sweeping from Kinsale and the river Brandon down the coastline of County Cork,” the Canadian astronaut tweeted along with the photo.

The photo captures puffs of cloud above small patchworks of land, with the river meandering through the picture.

Hadfield has a connection to Ireland: his daughter is studying at Trinity College Dublin, and he has shot and tweeted photos of Ireland from space before, most recently, snaps of the country on St Patrick’s Day.

Hadfield has been aboard the orbiting outpost since mid-December, carrying out scientific experiments. He is due to return to Earth next month.

Spot the International Space Station

Those in the Dublin area interested in catching a glimpse of the ISS should look overhead at 10.37pm tonight for what looks like a bright star, according to NASA.

The space lab, which orbits Earth every 92 minutes at 8 km/s, will be visible for two minutes (weather permitting). Observers should cast their eyes west south-west for the appearance of the ISS, which will then disappear from view in the south-west.
