Still from 'Google Glass Photographer' by gogrovo on YouTube

We take a look at some of the most-viewed and most-shared videos on the web. This week features a Friday night comparison of The Graham Norton Show and The Late Late Show, a failed penalty from Will Smith, Google Glass photography lessons, another rich person starting a Kickstarter fund, yawning, and a pair of unfortunate giraffes.

About 100 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute, 500 years of video watched on Facebook every day, and more than 700 YouTube videos shared on Twitter each minute, ensuring there is always video trending on the web.

With so much video available for viewing, we take a look at some of the viral videos that have caught our eye this week.

Graham Norton vs The Late Late

Two Irishmen went head-to-head last week in the battle of the Friday night talk shows but, as this video shows, Ryan Tubridy’s guests on The Late Late Show didn’t have a patch on BBC One’s The Graham Norton Show. You just can’t compete with a dancing Alfonso Ribeiro. The original clip from Norton’s show reached 5m views in just one day, and is now approaching 14m, resulting in an honorary doctorate from University College Cork for the host. (Okay, so he didn’t get it for the video, but we think he should have!)

Will Smith vs Van Der Sar

Will Smith didn’t come off as well during the rest of his promotional tour around the UK, though, and when he attempted a penalty shoot-out for FATV, results were embarrassing. To be fair, we all know basketball is more the Fresh Prince’s game.

Google Glass Photographer

If Google Glass is really going to become more commonplace, we should prepare ourselves for the impact this wearable tech will have on our daily lives. For example, Google Glass ‘photographers’ getting all up in your grill for a close-up.

Jon Lajoie’s Kickstarter

YouTube comedy star Jon Lajoie (he of ‘Show Me Your Genitals’ fame) has jumped on the Kickstarter bandwagon because he desperately needs to raise US$500m in order to make himself super rich. Okay, so maybe this project isn’t actually hosted on the crowdfunding website – but is it really any different from wealthy celebrities using the platform to generate funds for vanity projects?

The world’s most contagious prank

This video will probably make you yawn. Not because it’s boring, but because yawning is incredibly contagious and YouTube prankster Roman Atwood went around the world just to prove it.

The birds, the bees – and the giraffes

This is the side of animal mating rituals you never see in David Attenborough’s documentaries.
