Just months after launch, Jimdo’s app, which provides design templates that enable smartphone and tablet owners to produce elegant websites, has become a top performing iOS app in 48 countries, the company’s co-founder Fridtjof Detzner said today at the Dublin Web Summit.

Detzner said the app has been downloaded more than 70,000 times and that a new Android version is due to be launched early next year.

He said the app has been highlighted as an example by Apple amid the launch of iOS7.

Hamburg, Germany-based Jimdo launched the latest version of its website builder app in August.

Detzner, Christian Springub, and Matthias Henze founded the company in 2007.

Jimdo employs 170 people in Hamburg, San Francisco, Tokyo, and Shanghai.
