We take a look at some of the most-viewed and most-shared videos on the web. This week features the dance talents of both happy Dublin denizens and galactic stormtroopers, a very Irish GPS assistant, scathing DVD commentary and Arnold Schwarzenegger under cover.

About 100 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute, 500 years of video watched on Facebook every day, and more than 700 YouTube videos shared on Twitter each minute, ensuring there is always video trending on the web.

With so much video available for viewing, we take a look at some of the viral videos that have caught our eye this week.

Irish GPS

We start this week’s round-up off with some homegrown video talent as Irish YouTubers Clisare and TropperStopper have teamed up to imagine what it would be like if we had a real Irish accent on GPS systems – complete with a real Irish attitude to driving.

Stormtrooper Secrets: Hip Hop Twerk

Ever wonder what stormtroopers get up to in their down-time, when they’re not defending the Galactic Empire? Apparently, they’re quite partial to a spot of twerking – until they get caught in the act by the boss!

Oasis DVD commentary highlights

For whatever reason, Sam Huxley took it upon himself to compile the highlights from Noel Gallagher’s audio commentary on his former band Oasis’ music video back catalogue – and we’re glad he did. The ever-irreverent elder Gallagher is not a fan of the video-making process and minces no words in expressing his disdain (with the NSFW language we have come to expect from the grouchy Mancunian). Pick yourself up a copy of the Time Flies DVD for a full two hours of this ascerbic commentary.

Dry ice experiment

Crazy Russian Hacker hosts one of our favourite YouTube channels and, in this popular video instalment, he puts two pounds of dry ice in a sink filled with hot water, creating smoke waterfalls and tiny hurricanes. Because science.

Arnold works at Gold’s

Uploaded by Arnold Schwarzenegger himself, this video shows the Terminator going undercover as an instructor and regional manager at Gold’s Gym in Venice Beach, California. While making fun of the serious business of benching, Schwarzenegger raises the profile of a fundraising campaign for the After-School All-Stars programme – because Conan the Barbarian is really just a softie at heart.

Dublin is also ‘Happy’

You may be aware of a cheerful little ditty by one Pharrell Williams that’s been topping the charts and has inspired this video created by Happy Dublin. We’re not the best dancers in this fair city, but I’ll be damned if we we’re not a happy aul’ bunch. (Also, the guy at 1:02 totally stole my moves.)
