Life in the Womb app nominated for Webby Awards

11 Apr 2014

The Life in the Womb app developed by Dublin-based firms The Science Picture Company and Redwind Software has been nominated for a Webby Award.

The app fended off stiff competition from Disney Interactive and Scholastic Learning to make it into the category for best Mobile & Apps: Education & Reference.

Life in the Womb is a visual guide to pregnancy that explores the week-by-week progress of the developing baby using 3D-generated imagery. A team of artists, programmers, doctors and writers created the app, which offers expectant parents a new educational experience.

“Nominees like Life in the Womb are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the internet,” said David-Michel Davies, executive director of The Webby Awards.

“It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the 12,000 entries we received this year.”

As a nominee, Life in the Womb is also eligible to win a Webby People’s Voice Award. Fans across the globe may vote online until 24 April for who they would like to win this particular award.
