Life in the Womb app battles with TED for Webby People’s Choice Award

23 Apr 2014

Life in the Womb, an app developed in Dublin, is battling against ideas worth sharing non-profit TED for a Webby Award.

The app has been nominated alongside TED, Barefoot World Atlas, Toca Lab and Solar Walk for Best Mobile & Apps: Education & Reference.

It bet off steep competition from players like Disney to make it to the short-list.

The Life in the Womb app was developed by Dublin-based firms The Science Picture Company and Redwind Software.

As it stands TED has so far attracted 56pc of the vote, followed by Life in the Womb with 16pc, Barefoot World Atlas (14pc) and Toca Lab (4pc).

Life in the Womb is a visual guide to pregnancy that explores the week-by-week progress of the developing baby using 3D-generated imagery. A team of artists, programmers, doctors and writers created the app, which offers expectant parents a new educational experience.

Fans across the globe may vote online until midnight 24 April for who they would like to win this particular award.
