Instagram 6.0 sharpens images with new creative editing tools

4 Jun 2014

Photo-sharing social networking Instagram has rolled out version 6.0 for iOS and Android featuring eight new photo-editing tools that will enable users to put a more professional sheen on their prized shots with the ability to adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, warmth and more.

When users take a photo and select a filter they’ll now see a new wrench icon.

By tapping on it a tray of photo editing tools will appear enabling them to perfect composition with Adjust and Vignette, enrich colours with Warmth and Saturation, adjust colours with Brightness, Contrast, Highlights and Shadows and photos to make them crisper and alter the level that each filter is applied to the photo.

You can also now adjust how much of a filter you apply to a photo by double tapping the filter icon.

“You take a photo to capture a moment, but often what you see in the photograph doesn’t feel the same as what you remember,” Instagram said.

“From brightening up a photo of your dinner party to better capturing the warmth of a sunset portrait, these new creative tools help you bring out and share the beauty of the moment as you remember it—right inside the same simple Instagram you already know.”

Instagram for iOS version 6.0 is available today in Apple’s App Store, and Instagram for Android version 6.0 is available today on Google Play.
