Viral videos of the week: Poolbeg chimneys, a sneaky lion cub and Apparently Kid

We take a look at some of the most-viewed and most-shared videos on the web. This week features Dublin’s iconic Poolbeg chimneys and, apparently, a new viral sensation.

About 100 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute, 500 years of video watched on Facebook every day, and more than 700 YouTube videos shared on Twitter each minute, ensuring there is always video trending on the web.

With so much video available for viewing, we take a look at some of the viral videos that have caught our eye this week.

Apparently Kid

Apparently, five-year-old Noah Ritter has never been on live television before and, apparently, he doesn’t even watch the news sometimes. However, he apparently enjoyed himself at the Wayne County Fair in Michigan and this interview has made this wee lad an overnight internet sensation … apparently.

Sneaking lion cub gives dog a fright

This video opens with the words, “She doesn’t see that one coming,” and, boy, does this dog fail to acknowledge the cub creeping up beside her. Boo!

Serenading the cattle with my trombone

Farmer Derek Klingenberg has many talents, and one of them is (attempting) to play Lorde’s Royals on the trombone in order to beckon his cattle home. The strange thing is, it works! It even sounds like the herd is lowing along with the music at around 03:07!

Russian marches ducks into barn

You’ll need to click away a number of pesky pop-ups to enjoy this video fully, but it’s worth it to see this Russian fella command a waddling of ducks to attention and order them to march into a barn at once, like a web-footed army. Dr Dolittle would be impressed!

Inside the Poolbeg chimneys

Thanks to a drone fitted with a camera, this video gives us a unique perspective on the iconic Poolbeg chimneys, the two red-and-white-striped columns that are synonymous with the Dublin Bay skyline. A great video from Sky Pixels Ireland and a timely one, too, as the future of the chimneys has been called into question.

Mini Irish road-trip

Finally, with the grá tíre invoked by Sky Pixels Ireland still in our hearts, we leave you with this Irish road trip from Dog Day Media and Instamedia. Staff from the Cork-based companies borrowed a Mini for four days and took it on a 1,300 km-plus trip around the country, taking in as many sites as possible on the way. It gives us a staycation wanderlust just looking at it!
