Michael Jackson’s ‘A Place With No Name’ video to premiere on Twitter

11 Aug 2014

Michael Jackson fans, mark your calendars: the video for ‘A Place With No Name’, the next single off the album XSCAPE, is to make history by premiering on microblogging site Twitter at 10pm EDT on Wednesday.

For those in Ireland, that will be 3am on 14 August.

The short film will be tweeted through @MichaelJackson, allowing Twitter users to be able to view the video within a tweet, Epic Records and The Estate of Michael Jackson have said.

Fans who happen to be in New York City will be able to watch the video on the massive Sony screen in Times Square at the same time.

Twitter history

A Place With No Name will be the very first music video to launch through Twitter, which coincidentally, is the very same place where news of the pop star’s death first broke on 25 June, 2009.

The narrative of the video for A Place With No Name, directed by Samuel Bayer, surrounds a man enticed into a magical ‘place’ by a mysterious woman.

The video also includes outtakes and behind-the-scenes footage of Jackson shot during the production for the In The Closet short film, which have been kept under wraps since 1992.
