Dunphy back on the box and in your pocket

Fittingly a few days before Halloween, it has been announced that Eamon Dunphy is to resurrect his television career. He will present his own made-for-mobile TV show on the 3 network.

The broadcaster, whose television chat show flopped and who recently retired from radio, has signed a groundbreaking deal with 3 Ireland to present a weekly football show. It is the first Irish made-for-mobile TV show, and follows in the steps of 3’s popular made-for-mobile radio show The Hive.

The show, Dunphy’s Last Word on Football, will stream to mobile every Monday with a pre-weekend teaser each Friday, and will cover the current topics both on and off the pitch. It will be filmed in Dunphy’s own sitting room.

A feature of the show will be that 3’s customers will be invited to go head to head with Dunphy with their own video punditry.

Dunphy commented: “3 is offering the armchair pundit the chance to take part in the football debate, wherever they are. Now you don’t need to be stuck at home in front of the TV to know exactly what’s happening on and off the pitch.

“I’m looking forward to broadcasting my views to a new mobile audience and for the first time I’ll be giving Irish football fans a chance to have the last word with their own video comments.”

David Riley, 3’s head of entertainment, said: “This is the first show of its kind in Ireland and is an exciting new development for Irish media.”
