FBD Insurance has launched a new website www.fbd.ie using Web 2.0 technologies and hosting a range of features focused on giving customers greater control when buying car insurance.
Research conducted by FBD shows that some 75pc of car insurance customers now go online for quotes, with 48pc saying they would be prepared to complete the purchase online if the process were to be made easier.
FBD said its website provides a quote in less than 10 seconds, complete online payment facilities including direct debit authorisation without signature required, immediate cover confirmation and customised package building tools to suit individual customers’ needs.
“This significant investment by FBD is recognition by the company for the need to engage with Ireland’s ever increasing online community,” said Adrian Taheny, director of sales and marketing.
“This new web service will form the keystone of FBD’s drive for online transactions to represent 5pc of new business growth within the next three years.”
Regarding Web 2.0 infrastructure, FBD is the first insurance company to provide free Skype calls. Customers can also engage directly with FBD staff via Twitter (fbd_ie) and watch for regular updates on products and services.
