Sony has just introduced three new cameras for the enthusiast who has graduated beyond the point-and-shoot digital still, but has not ventured into the digital SLR market before.
The DSLR-A380, DSLR-A330 and DSLR-A230 are small, light and compact, and easier to use than the standard digital SLR.
All three models have SteadyShot Inside technology, which is an in-camera image stabilisation feature to minimise blur due to camera shake, and this extends to every α-mount lens.
Sony has also introduced four news lenses, as well as a flash and accessories for this new DLR line-up.
To make it easier for the first-time DSLR user to get started, Sony’s new cameras come in camera-and-lens packages.
As well as the standard zoom and telephoto lenses, there are two brand-new ones: portrait and macros lenses.
Of the three camera models, the 10.2-megapixel α230 is the lightest, while the 10.2 megapixel α330 and the 14.2 megapixel α380 are lighter than the previous generations they are replacing.
Each of the cameras has a HDMI terminal for connection to a compatible high-definition (HD) TV, allowing users to display images in HD quality. However, the additional HDMI cable does need to be bought separately.
Pre-orders for these new DSLRs and accessories begin today on the Sony.com website, and will be available in July from Sony retail stores in the US, with a timeline for Europe yet to be announced.
