WhoseView.ie is a social review based website currently in open beta that allows all to rant and rave on local services and products!
www.whoseview.ie was founded by Helen McCarthy and Michael McFionbhear in partnership with Lightbox Multimedia. They are also supported by Enterprise Ireland. The site was launched on July 17th 2009 with 38,000 Dublin businesses and close to 600 customer reviews. The goal is to concentrate on city locations, moving to Galway and Cork in September, before launching into the UK in early 2010.
It is a review website boasts over 10 categories Restaurants, Food & Drink, Bars & Nightlife, Shopping & Fashion, Health & Beauty, Arts & Culture, Hotels & Travel, Local & Home Services, Recreation and Automotive. Each of these categories has a dozen sub categories too.
The search facility has a useful predictive search and the entire interface is fast and clean. The locations of the top 5 results of a search appear on the Google map to the right of the results.
The reviews are broken down into two main categories, Raves and Rants and are very detailed. A review contains a rating out of 5 stars, the reviewers name, how long ago the review was made and a snippet of the review. Each location has a rating out of the total number for their category. Reviews can be filtered by area and sorted by a number of headings.
The website has some excellent videos on helping people get started with searching, reviewing and connecting.
