Nokia enters netbook market with Booklet 3G

24.08.2009
With a Windows-based netbook weighing 1.25 kilograms and giving up to 12 hours of battery power Nokia has made its debut in the PC market with the Booklet 3G.

The lightweight mini-laptop has a 10-inch HD glass screen and comes with 3G, HSPA and WiFi connectivity as well as integrated A-GPS that works with Nokia's Ovi Maps.

The aluminium chassis houses Nokia's suite of Ovi services, a front facing web cam, an HDMI port for HD video out, built-in Bluetooth and an SD card reader.

"A growing number of people want the computing power of a PC with the full benefits of mobility," said Kai Oistamo, Nokia's executive vice president for devices.

"We are in the business of connecting people and the Nokia Booklet 3G is a natural evolution for us. Nokia has a long and rich heritage in mobility and with the outstanding battery life, premium design and all day, always on connectivity, we will create something quite compelling. In doing so we will make the personal computer more social, more helpful and more personal."

The price of the Booklet 3G along with details of when it will go on sale will be announced on September 2nd at the Nokia World event.
