HP has designs on ‘digital clutch’ netbook

The netbook is so light it can be taken virtually anywhere but the catwalk, you would think. Not according to HP’s latest collaboration with designer Vivienne Tam.

The PC manufacturer has collaborated for the second time with New York-based fashion designer Vivienne Tam to create a fashion-conscious netbook that is being dubbed a “digital clutch”.

In a seamless mix of haute couture and technology, the digital clutch debuted on the catwalk of Tam’s fashion show last Saturday, during New York’s Fashion Week at Bryant Park.

The netbook is based on HP’s Mini 100 but its outer casing comes in a choice of red with Asian flowers or a designer-edition champagne gold with butterflies.

The HP Vivienne Tam notebook will go on sale in early 2010.
