Staff at Boston Scientific in Galway have been told of plans to reduce the workforce of 3,000 by up to 175 positions, a spokesperson for the medical devices company has said.
Boston Scientific remained strongly committed to its operations in Ireland, which were making a significant contribution to the organisation's global business, the spokesperson added.
The company announced a €91-million investment at the Galway plant, creating 45 jobs, last year.
