Aisling's Diary proved to be a winner for CR Entertainment Ltd last night, as the programme won the award for Best One-Off, Special or TV Movie in the Teen/Tween Category at the Kidscreen Awards in New York.
RTÉ's Young Peoples first commissioned the series in 2008 with a one-off special, but high ratings led to the call for a second season of the show.
The programme follows teenage Irish-American Aisling, who has just moved from Boston to Dublin with her family.
"Aisling's Diary, commissioned by RTÉ Young Peoples, is part of the new and exciting wave of kids' programming coming from Ireland and we are delighted with this international recognition at one of the most important events in the kids industry," series producer Triona Campbell said from New York.
Aisling's Diary has also been nominated in the Best Children & Youth Category of the Irish Film and Television Awards 2010, which is to take place later this month. The series is also available for mobile and on the internet, and Penguin Books is selling an Aisling's Diary book.
