6 May 2010

Cork technology company PFH is to become a €50m a year turnover company with 200 employees after acquiring the Irish arm of Siemens Enterprise Communications for an undisclosed sum.

Through this deal, PFH will become Ireland’s largest independent tier one ICT provider and will seek to grow revenue to more than €50m in the coming 12 months.

“This announcement is great news for both Siemens Enterprise Communications and PFH customers,” said Paul Hourican, managing director of PFH.

“Our skill sets are complementary with few overlaps. Now we have the ability to offer voice and data offerings, from unified communications, switching and networking, to our range of procurement, implementation, storage and support services.

About PFH

PFH is Ireland’s largest privately-owned ICT player, employing 150 people with offices in Dublin, Cork and Galway. This includes 80 engineers to service customers nationwide. Its value proposition is to bring great technology together, using its experience and expertise to deliver winning business strategies for customers.

The company, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, has a turnover of €36m. It was Ireland’s first Microsoft Gold Partner.

“This is the first time that this breadth of complete product and services across IT and communications will be available from an independent Irish company. We believe this deal has the ability to change the face of ICT in Ireland and offer real and tangible benefits for both large and small enterprises alike,” Hourican said.

All customers of the new PFH group can immediately access the Siemens networking, switching and unified communications portfolio, aligned with PFH’s managed hosting, design and procurement services, Hourican said.

As part of the deal, Siemens Enterprise Communications staff based in Cork will move to the PFH Network Operations Centre in Eastgate, Cork, over the next few weeks, while all remaining staff will move to the new PFH Sales & Marketing HQ in Dublin in the coming months.

“As part of Siemens’ global strategy, this announcement will see one of its larger and more successful local companies combine with PFH to deliver a next-generation Siemens managed and hosted services along with unified communications to existing and new customers within the PFH portfolio,” said Pat Donegan, managing director, Siemens Enterprise Communications.
