Canon’s new, ultra-portable consumer printer, the Selphy CP770, comes in such a cheery yellow storage bucket that it could easily fit in on a family outing to the beach – just make sure the kids don’t fill it up with sand by mistake.

The Selphy CP770 is a compact unit aimed at printing lab-quality photos and with its big buttons and 2.5-inch colour LCD screen, it is designed for straightforward, no-nonsense functionality that kids will have no problem getting to grips with.

While the storage bucket can pack away cables, the printer can be used wirelessly with your digital camera and comes with an optional battery pack, so professional-looking family photos on the beach can be taken and printed in minutes.

The Selphy CP770 also allows for automatic image correction and will fix any pesky red-eye shots. Photos can also be printed out directly in standard options, including black and white and sepia tones.

The CP770’s sister printer, the CP760, comes without the bucket-like carry case and optional battery pack and is a more budget-friendly alternative. This printer will be on the market by the end of May, with the CP770 to follow shortly afterwards.

As of yet, there is no pricing announced for Ireland but the CP760 and CP770 will cost €89 and €139 respectively in the UK.
