User Story helps businesses improve the usability of their websites, web-based applications and smartphone/mobile apps. We do this by testing their site or iPhone/iPad/Android app with its target users, to find any issues people may have in interacting with the site or app. Based on the results of these tests, we then provide detailed recommendations on what the business needs to do to fix the issues and make their site/app more user-friendly.
Founded in 2008 and trading originally as Knowledge Matters Ltd, we initially provided technical documentation and online help systems for technology companies. However, our experience in documenting unusable systems led us to realise that good documentation was not a remedy for a poor system design. We began investigating how we could help companies that had a good concept for a site or application but who lacked the ability to visualise the site or app from the users' perspective and who could not afford a full-time, in-house usability specialist. Following a number of months on service and product development and our rebranding to User Story Ltd, we launched our new online usability testing service in August 2011.
Because we conduct our user testing online, User Story offers an affordable alternative to traditional, lab-based usability testing, allowing businesses to test early, test often. We’re currently developing our own online tools to make usability testing affordable and accessible to companies of all sizes, from start-ups to multinationals.
