Event Junkies
Dubliner Ross Killeen began working in film and television aged 24 having studied photography and communications in both Dublin and the UK. For 8 years he held roles in the post-production end of TV, primarily as an editor of popular RTE and TV3 shows and live gigs.
By 2009 Ross was the Senior Editor at a Dublin post-production house and at that point he decided it was time to fulfil his life-time entrepreneurial ambitions. In 2010 he developed a business idea to fill a niche in the online video market, and so Event Junkies was born later that year. By late 2011, Ross had hired another Event Junkie, bringing the team to two.

Ross Killeen, owner, explains the advantage of the quick turn-around in video production for clients:
“Most companies have a presence on Youtube and Facebook, but videos uploaded tend to be too long, dated, poor quality and as a result, lacking in hits!"
Event Junkies offer a unique service. The team can be dispatched to a product launch, festival, gig or conference and set to work instantly, filming to a professional standard. Next they edit a short video, upload to Youtube and email to the client, all within 24 hours.
The video can then be embedded on the client's Facebook page, Twitter page or sent out via their e-newsletter, reaching customers. It gets people talking.
Speaking on how he identified a gap in the market, Ross says:
“I noticed that professional photography agencies cover PR events and then send the photos to the client that day. I figured that doing this with video would be a powerful marketing tool.
Now Youtube is the second largest online search engine, so we ensure video content is newsy and fast moving, providing strong online content to pass on virally.
Support for Event Junkies comes from the Dublin City County Enterprise Board. The company also participated in the Norma Smurfit-led “First Step” service for entrepreneurs.
The agility of Event Junkies has led to rapid growth. Clients include leading PR agencies, event management companies, experiential marketing companies, and big name brands.
Already a schedule of work is in place for the first half of 2012, covering events and video marketing campaigns. Strong and steady growth and brand awareness raising activities will bring the company to solid, client-led video specialist agency, come 2013.
