Irish tech firm’s app targets construction industry

A unique iPhone app for the construction industry has been launched by NovaUCD-based technology start-up SmartBuilder Software and aims to help building firms clean up their construction sites when the job is finished.

The app, called Site Clean Up, works for building firms of all sizes and is essentially a mobile application that tracks jobs and keeps tabs on the progress of sub-contractors.

The app was developed to tackle the job of site clean up that sub-contractors can often neglect, costing a building firm extra time and money as well as leading to the possible breach of environmental and safety laws.

“In today’s economic environment no building contractor can afford these sort of wastages and inefficiencies. Site Clean Up was developed as a response to a need builders were telling us about,” said Peter Daly, managing director and co-founder of SmartBuilder Software.

“The benefits of using our Site Clean Up app will add to our clients’ bottom line immediately and also result in cleaner and safer building sites. It is also good for sub-contractors who get to run their businesses more efficiently so it is a win-win app for all parties.”

The app was developed following market research by NovaUCD-based SmartBuilder Software, headquartered in NovaUCD, which found that there was a demand for a practical technology solution to the problem of site clean up. The app works for literally any site from a small job up to those working on the London Olympics.

The iPhone Site Clean Up app is available from the App Store for €15.50. There are plans to bring out an Android version of this app later in the year.
