The informal networking group Entrepreneurs Anonymous is hosting this month’s free networking event for early-stage self-starters in Dublin this evening.
The group meet on the last Tuesday of every month in Farrington’s in Temple Bar in Dublin City between 6 and 6:30pm. Then, they head up to the restaurant to network for about an hour. The idea is to provide a space for people to ask questions about a start-up issue that might be bothering them. There’s also a guest speaker.
Tonight’s speaker is Richard Lawler, the author of the book Innovation Demystified. Lawler is also working on a book about entrepreneurship.
According to one of the event’s organisers, John Muldoon, the idea of the informal get-togethers are to allow people to exchange information and network. Muldoon himself is working on a diagnosis app for the medical profession.
“Most of the attendees are very early stage start-ups like myself. Some people come looking for co-founders, while others are up and running and looking to meet like-minded people.”
He said the idea to set up the informal networking sessions grew out of the Endeavour entrepreneurship programme, which he participated in last year.
“When the programme ended a group of us decided to start the events as a means of keeping in touch, especially as many of us would be one or two-person operations.
“The idea is that people who are in the early stages of setting up a venture can come to the events and share ideas. Many people would come to get a question answered,” explained Muldoon.
The monthly events are also open to people who are thinking of setting up a new venture or who would like to join a start-up.
