A new website for Dublin nightlife called CityLive.ie has just launched in beta mode. The site is aiming to be a go-to guide for people to find the most up-to-date listings of what is going on in Dublin City every night of the week.
The new site has been developed by four Dublin-based entrepreneurs. Graham McWilliams, Vincent McWilliams, Conor Skelly and Gary Creaner. Around 13 months ago they decided to develop CityLive as they felt that sourcing events and gigs that were happening in Dublin on any given night was proving to be a challenge on the net.
The four co-founders moved into the Guinness Enterprise Centre where they spent six months developing their new venture.
According to Graham McWilliams, who is leading the venture, bar, club and venue managers can update the website themselves to add accurate listings of what's going down in Dublin.
As well as this, the website also features offers from bars and venues. For instance, the film Breakfast at Tiffany's is showing tonight at 4 Dame Lane for free. The site also lists top events for each day, such as Dublin musician and songwriter Sorcha Richardson, who will be performing at Whelan's tonight.
“We have given all the venues in Dublin access to our interface which allows them to input their event details onto our database," said McWilliams. "It has a comprehensive listing of what is on every night of the week in Dublin."
He said the founders hope to replicate the model for other cities around the globe. Next up, for instance, the aim is to expand CityLive to Cork and Belfast, before CityLive sets its sights on the UK.
McWilliams said the team is also working on developing the site into an app, which will be ready by the end of October.
